After James Harden’s tenure, the Los Angeles Clippers have finally triumphed in a game. The Clippers defeated the Houston Rockets in thrilling fashion on Friday, after losing six straight after the big trade. Harden converted what turned out to be the game-winning four-point play in the final seconds of play.
Rockets 100, Clippers 106.
The Clippers, if you want to go into the hierarchy thing, went to Kawhi Leonard on the wing for the game’s last possession when the score was knotted at 100. After Jabari Smith shut him down and forced the pass back to Harden, who went to work in vintage clothing, Leonard moved into isolation.

Regarding the last possession, Leonard remarked, “There was no magic to it—I had the ball, I saw his guy kind of lagging a little bit, and I trusted him.” His ranking is among the best 75 players this league has ever had. I then passed the ball to him, and he made the shot.”
Harden finished with nine rebounds, seven assists, and twenty-four points on eight of eleven shots, including two of four from three. In his 34 minutes, he was plus-21, a team high. Harden has never recorded a positive point differential while wearing a Clippers uniform.
You desire balance in box scores: Leonard finished with 26 and Paul George with 23, matching Harden’s 24. For the first time since joining the Clippers, Russell Westbrook scored eight points on nine shots in just 17 minutes of play after coming off the bench. Earlier in the day, it was claimed that Westbrook asked to be taken off the bench in an attempt to assist the Clippers create a more cohesive starting lineup now that Harden has joined the team. Though it’s too soon to tell if that play contributed to L.A.’s victory, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue stated that it’s something to build on following the game.
“I felt that we had a strong beginning. Lue stated, “At this point, all we need to do is make sure our bench has the proper rotations, minutes, and fit. However, this is the first game we’ve tried to do that with. We have this one to build upon. However, building is preferable to building when you are losing.”
The Clippers, who now stand 1-2 in Group B of the Western Conference, also have their first victory in an In-Season Tournament. They improved to 4-7 overall for the season with the win.
The Rockets, the biggest surprise of the season so far, dropped to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the IST (also in Group B of the Western Conference).
