Also, Rodgers provided an update on his Achilles recuperation.

After a humiliating 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets are now 4-6, third in the AFC East, and 14th in the league. Starting quarterback Zach Wilson, who started the season as a backup, is now third behind Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle. Though it doesn’t sound good, are the Jets’ hopes of making the playoffs completely gone?

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for New York, believes his team still has hope for the remaining games. While on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, the future Hall of Famer—who is presently recovering from an Achilles injury sustained just four plays into the team’s opening offensive drive of the season—explained his optimism for the squad.

Because he has seen it happen before, Rodgers thinks a team with a losing record at this point in the season can still make the playoffs.

“Listen, over the years, there have been about four or five teams that have made runs,” remarked Rodgers. “In 2016, there was an NFC North squad that many were not expecting. They went on a tear, winning eight straight games to advance to the NFC Championship Game. 2009 saw a 4-6 Jersey club that advanced to the AFC Championship Game with a 9-7 record.”

The Green Bay Packers, his old team, who finished the season 4-6 and won the division, were mentioned first. The Jets, who began the season 4-6 and finished second in the AFC East, were mentioned in the second.

Though many more teams in this division have failed to make the playoffs, it is evident that Rodgers has been studying successful 4-6 teams.

The 39-year-old stated unequivocally that he thinks the Jets’ season is still alive.

“So let’s get this straight: the season is far from over. It’s still alive. There’s still a lot of work to be done,” No. 8 stated.

The Jets rank thirty-ninth in the league in terms of completion percentage (58.6), passing yards per attempt (5.9), passing yards (1,995), first-down percentage (26.3), sacks allowed (40), total touchdowns, rushing touchdowns (42), rushing fumbles (30), and first-down percentage (26.3).

While the Jets wait to see whether they will get their great quarterback back from injury, Boyle may be the one to turn things around for the offence, which is faltering. However, there isn’t much evidence to support this theory.

Although it was first thought that Rodgers’ injury would finish the season, he is determined to return this year and plans to do so by mid-December.

“Now that I can jog on a treadmill, my rehabilitation is going as fast as I anticipated. I’m excited about where I am at in the process. And eager to see where I’m at and rejoin the team,” he remarked.

Rodgers will play if he wants to and is cleared by his doctor, according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
